Cazé - Hola Río Memories

In Bogotá, Colombia, artist Cazé, represented by Aborda, created a mural depicting Perla, a fruit seller from Valle Del Cauca. The work, made with sponsorship from the Rio de Janeiro State Government and the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy through the Rio-Colombia Year Call for Proposals, emphasizes the importance and strength of the black female body. The artist also addresses the similarities between Brazil and Colombia, the two countries with the largest Afro-descendant populations in South America, highlighting the challenges faced by these communities in their social integration. The mural highlights the difficulties in the search for respect, equal access to education and decent working conditions, reflecting the ongoing struggle for recognition and equality.

Thinking of a connection between Rio and Colombia, the artist sought a food that would be the interlocutor between the roots of the two countries, portraying a character very present in everyday life in Rio.
